Google improves image search functionality via mobile devices

Google has very quietly applied a helpful upgrade to their image search feature, when used on a mobile device. This is in line with their goal of improving internet users experiences, regardless of device type.

The new features are:

  • View original image
  • Search by image
  • Send feedback

New Google image search menu options

In our mobile image search, we’ve entered Queenstown and selected one of the search results – in the top right hand corner, you can see the menu and the new options:

Viewing images via Google search

You can still access this Queenstown photograph from the web page that holds the image, via the link at the bottom of the page, but Google have now made it easier to view the image on it’s own through the View original image option.

Scroll down for Related Images

While looking at the Queenstown image, you can now also scroll down to see related images – this has been done in a similar way to how Pinterest use the same logic, and is just as handy:
